The Nation’s Largest Fire Department Awards IMMI Special Commendation for Safety

WESTFIELD, Ind., July 10, 2012 — The Fire Department of New York City (FDNY) is honoring Westfield-based IMMI, with a Special Commendation for IMMI's unsurpassed commitment to the safety of their first responders. As part of FDNY's Seat Belt Program, which is designed to improve safety by increasing seat belt use among first responders, the City of New York outfitted their entire fleet of fire trucks with IMMI's innovative ReadyReach enhanced seat belt system.

"We are truly honored and thankful to receive such a prestigious award from the FDNY. At IMMI, bringing safety to people is our mission, and we're pleased that we can bring safety to the men and women of the FDNY and other fire departments throughout the country with ReadyReach™," said IMMI CEO Larry Gray.

The heavy gear worn by first responders can make it difficult for them to turn and grab their seat belts, which discourages use. IMMI's ReadyReach provides the solution, so firefighters can now easily grab their seat belts and buckle in one-handed. The ease of the product promotes increased usage, which leads to the ultimate goal of keeping firefighters safer and reducing accident-related injuries," added Gray.

ReadyReach meets applicable FMVSS standards, and can be specified on new fire vehicles, or retrofitted in many older fire trucks. IMMI is currently working with other fire departments across the country to increase seat belt usage among firefighters with ReadyReach.
