IMMI Announces Partnership Between CAPE and PEI

WESTFIELD, Ind., November 29, 2011 — IMMI, an industry leader in the design, testing and manufacturing of advanced safety systems for commercial vehicles, adds to its already significant test and validation capabilities by announcing today a strategic partnership between its Center for Advanced Product Testing (CAPE), a premier independent crash and structural test facility, and Progressive Engineering Incorporated (PEI), a leader in building code and test standard development. While remaining independent under terms of the relationship, CAPE and PEI may mutually market test capabilities offered by the other, allowing both companies to better serve current client industries and favorably position themselves for growth in new markets.

"We’re excited about the relationship with PEI,” stated Thomas Chezem, CAPE vice president. "CAPE is a dynamic and structural testing facility, while PEI’s core competencies are in component and system testing. Our services complement each other and will allow us to expand the breadth of support we can offer to our combined roster of clients and their respective industries."

Located on the campus of IMMI, a market leader in the development and production of safety components for commercial vehicles, CAPE brings together advanced technology and specialized engineering expertise to provide customers with analytical information to support their most complex decisions. With a long history of providing crashworthiness testing for the commercial vehicle industry—including conducting over 60 barrier crash tests in the past 10 years for vehicles weighing between 10,000 and 80,000 pounds—CAPE is considered the premier crash and structural test facility in North America for large commercial vehicles.

Headquartered in Goshen, Ind., PEI services customers across the United States in all phases of the construction industry. The 32-year-old company works with local contractors, as well as nationally renowned product suppliers, manufactured/modular home builders and recreational vehicle manufacturers. Their ISO 17025 independent testing lab is staffed with over 75 years of experience and provides such consulting services as professional engineering services, structural testing, environmental assessments, compliance and permitting, vehicle certification and redevelopment.

"With CAPE, PEI has found a partner that shares our same commitment to providing the highest level of support and professional services to our clients," remarked Jason Holdeman, PEI laboratory manager. "We welcome the opportunity to complement the testing support CAPE offers to its client industries. PEI is excited to have CAPE extend the capabilities we provide to the markets they serve."
